Prime Number Game
Help me with this problem?
Terri and Nicholas invented a game called Mix and Match clues. These are the clues:
Clue a: the number is greater than 150 and less than 200
clue b: the number is evenly divisible by 3
clue c: the number is evenly divisible by 5
clue d: the number is evenly divisible by 2
clue e: the number is a prime number..
write a number that fits clue A & B.
If possible, write a number that fits A&C&D
if possible, write a number that fits A,B,C,D. if not possible, explain
if possible, write a number that fits A,B & E.
Can someone explain this to me? And if it isn’t possible too.
A number that fits A & B is 153.
How did I get this? I know that 150 is divisible by 3 (try it and see- 150 divided by 3 = 50) so I added another 3 to get a number that would also be divisible by 3 (153 divided by 3 = 51)
A number that fits A & C & D must be one that is divisible by 10 (if it is divisible by 2 and 5 it has to be divisible by 2×5=10 – take some numbers that are divisible by 10 and try dividing by 2 and 5 and you’ll see it’s true). So an example between 150 and 200 would be 160 (or 170, 180 or 190).
A number that fits A, B, C and D would have to be divisible by 30 (like before – 2×5x3=30). 180 fits this (I got this because I know that 150 is divisible by 30, so I added another 30).
A number that fits A, B & E is not possible to find. A prime number is a number that is only divisible by itself (and 1)- so a prime number that fits clue B would have to be 3. But 3 is not between 150 and 200 so this one is impossible.
